Smash Glass Ceilings

Life Design Action: Smash through glass ceilings

Requires: Courage

Dos not require: An actual greenhouse

What is a glass ceiling? If you look on Wiki it says, “a political term used to describe “the unseen, yet unbreakable barrier that keeps minorities and women from rising to the upper rungs of the corporate ladder, regardless of their qualifications or achievements.”

I don’t believe that glass ceilings are restricted to the corporate world.

The Gorgeousness meaning is: “an invisible barrier that stops us from growing to our true potential and massiveness in this world. Glass ceilings can be self imposed, culturally imposed, or imposed by family, friends, work colleagues and community. They are often difficult to spot and require a good hard push to smash through. Following this huge personal and gorgeousness growth will occur.”

How do we spot glass ceilings?

Glass ceilings are blotted with “I can’t do that’s”, “its impossible” and “you could never become/achieve this.” When we bang our heads on this sort of negative self limitation we know we’ve hit a glass ceiling. These places can also be overgrown with the voices of people in our family and community who fall into the trap of seeing us as “small” and “safe” when actually we’re destined to be exotic beanstalks adventuring into the clouds. The media is filled with glass ceilings – particularly for women.

How do we break through glass ceilings?

Essentially, the only glass ceiling you really need to break are your own self imposed ones. Once you master the skill of banging your head against YOUR limiting beliefs and pushing through them saying “I bloody CAN do this!” you are free. Following this will be an interesting transition period where your beliefs about what is possible conflict with the beliefs of the people who surround you. Those that want to keep you under your glass ceiling may revolt against you, but your true champions will cheer lead you on and wave you up towards the sky.

Wishing you an amazing week ahead. xxx
